ACROBATICS EVERYDAY is an independent, not-for-profit entity that organizes, promotes, and produces DIY, all ages concerts and events in classrooms, conference rooms, and cafeterias across the campus of UC IRVINE in Irvine, California. Our goal is to establish Orange County as a viable touring destination for artists from around the world. We have been in existence since January 2008 and have since presented well over 100 shows. !!! Official call for writing and artwork of any kind that is in any way relevant to the times you have spent under the Acrobatics Everyday tutelage at UCI watching live music and art. Submissions will be collected for a zine to be released on or around the 5 year anniversary of Acrobatics Everyday in January 2013. Maybe it will be called "I've Never Been to Irvine Before" or something like that. No real rules or restrictions -- whatever format and construct you feel best captures the experiences you want to express or share -- long-form or short, poetry or prose, photograph or drawing, or even a song? It would be excellent to assemble a relevant mix to go along with the paper. There will probably be some sort of zine release-slash-anniversary show. Submissions are due by Friday, December 27th. Acrobatics Everyday is not a venue proper as much as it is a vehicle for organizing and presenting shows featuring artists we love. Since putting a show together requires a lot of time, effort, and energy on our behalf we can only do so many though we wish we could do more. We usually book shows around touring bands and rarely do shows with only local bands. Lastly, this is a labor of love, so please realize this while waiting for a response to an email.
